China Launched the First Embedded Artificial Intelligence Vision Chip

Dec. 20th, Horizon released China's first embedded artificial intelligence vision chip. It has two series: Journey and Sunrise, both will focus on smart driving, smart city, smart business application scenes landing.

According to the founder and CEO of Horizon, Yu Kai, Journey 1.0 faces smart driving, it can simultaneously monitor and recognize pedestrian, motor vehicle, non-motor vehicle, lane line, traffic sign, traffic lights and other targets accurately and in real time, and can meet the harsh environment requirements of vehicles and the visual perception needs under different environments. Sunrise 1.0 hidden in smart camera, can large-scale and capture and face recognition locally, , video structured processing, and can be widely used in commercial, security and many other practical scenes.

As per Horizon's chief architect Zhou Feng, the key advantage of Journey and Sunrise is due to the Horizon's innovative technique architecture and combinatorial algorithm, the computing speed of the chip can be increased more than 10 times. Different from general-purpose chip business model, Horizon's chip is focused on specific applications in different scenes, which will promote the acceleration of artificial intelligence applications landing.

There are two AI start-up companies in China, one is the Cambrian, and the other is Horizon that started two years ago. Ding Wenwu, president of National IC Industry Investment Fund Co., Ltd., hopes for Horizon will become "the future of Intel in the field of artificial intelligence."

"By 2020, Horizons' artificial intelligence chips will enable billions of Internet of Things (IoT) intelligent sensing terminals. By 2025, all 30 million autonomous vehicles in the Chinese cars' brains are based on the Horizon's artificial intelligence processors."
