First Low Cost Robotics Contest: Time-saving Robotic Solutions Win Judges' Favor

High precision resistors, different from normal resistors, require resistance vale tolerance, TCR, distribution parameters of resistors(distributed capacitors and distributed inductors) to reach a certain standard.

Standard of high precision resistors
For resistors of resistance value above 1Ω, resistance value tolerance within ±0.5% can be called jepsun, higher precision can be ±0.01%, usually for thin foil resistors. Resistance value above 1Ω with precision of ±5%, electronics generally use ±5%, which are not precision resistors.
For resistors of resistance value below 1Ω, resistance value tolerance within ±1%, they belong to precision resistors, because base is small, 1% tolerance is quite small. Higher precision will be ±0.5%, but require higher technology.

Classification of high precision resistors
In electronics, resistors are classified as DIP resistors and SMD resistors. High precision resistors have same classification. For example, SMD jepsun precision resistors, also thin foil resistors, compared with DIP resistors, featuring high precision, lower temperature drift(lower TCR), small volume, suitable for automatic SMT. DIP resistors are classified according to materials, having metal foil precision resistors, wire wound precision resistors, and metal thin foil precision resistors.
Metal foil precision resistors have higher precision, but resistance value TCR and distribution parameters are lower; wire wound precision resistors resistance value precision and TCR is quite high, but distribution parameters are a little lower; metal thin foil precision resistors' precision, TCR and distribution parameters are very high, the precision can reach 10-6, TCR ±0.3×10-6/℃, distributed capacitors can be lower than 0.5pF, distributed inductors can be lower than 0.1μH.
In DC or low frequency AC circuit, wire wound precision resistors and metal foil precision resistors are chosen instead of expensive metal thin foil precision resistors. Metal foil precision resistors are cylindrical, wire wound precision resistors are cylindrical, compressed terete, rectangular frame shaped. Metal thin foil precision resistors are square or platy.

Replacement of high precision resistors
When rectangular frame wire wound precision resistors are broken, new alloy resistor wire same as old resistor's alloy, diameter and length wound in the original frame. If original rectangular frame precision resistors is damaged on surface, the original resistor wire removed and dipping lacquer again, dry and wound to rectangular frame.

Current Sensing Resistor for Power Supply

Current sensing resistors are also called sampling resistors. Simply speaking, it is an SMD sampling resistor with small resistors, it is usually series connected to circuit to exchange the current to voltage signals for test.

This kind of resistors are categorized by function. It is used for reference, generally applied in feedback circuits. Take Voltage regulated power supply circuit for instance, to keep output voltage in a permanent state, a part of voltage from output voltage as reference (usually using the form of sampling resistors), if output is high, the input end automatically lowers voltage to make output less; if output lower, the input end automatically boosts voltage to make output higher. Current sensing resistors are generally used in power supplies for electronics, digital products, mechanical and electrical products, etc. You will see lots of sampling resistors in many electronics.

Current sensing resistors usually are precision resistors with features of low resistance value, high precision, the tolerance is within ±1%. If higher requirements, precision of ±0.01% will be in need. SMD high precision resistors are in great demand to meet the requirements automatic manufacturing of small products.

We know the unit of resistors are ohm, and resistance value is usually below 1ohm for current sensing resistors. Some current sensing resistors require sampling voltage, then large resistance value resistors are required, if resistance base is large, the tolerance will be large. High precision resistors should be chosen.

How to Distinguish the Resistors?

Resistors have different styles and how to distinguish them clearly? They can be distinguished according to materials, function, etc. Today I will introduce the normal resistors below:
1. Wire wound resistors: Commonly made by winding a metal wire, usually nichrome, around a ceramic, plastic, or fiberglass core. The ends of the wire are soldered or welded to two caps or rings, attached to the ends of the core. The assembly is protected with a layer of paint, molded plastic, or an enamel coating baked at high temperature.

2. Foil resistor: The primary resistance element of a foil resistor is a special alloy foil several micrometers thick, they have the best precision and stability of any resistor available. One of the important parameters influencing stability is the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR).

3. Grid resistor: In heavy-duty industrial high-current applications, a grid resistor is a large convection-cooled lattice of stamped metal alloy strips connected in rows between two electrodes.

4. Carbon film resistor: Deposited on an insulating substrate, and a helix is cut in it to create a long, narrow resistive path. Varying shapes, coupled with the resistivity of amorphous carbon (ranging from 500 to 800 μΩ m), can provide a wide range of resistance values.

5. Metal film resistor: Metal film resistors are usually coated with nickel chromium (NiCr), but might be coated with any of the cermet materials listed above for thin film resistors. Metal film resistors' precision is higher than carbon film resistors, and stable, noise and TCR is small, usually widely used in instrument measuring appliances.

Of course, there are other resistors in this resistor industry, and too many electronics or equipments need resistors, customized resistors are also available according to industry requirements. Even the newest AI technology, high precision resistors are in great demand.

Shunt Resistors Integrated with Busbars Used for Cars

Somebody maybe never hear of Shunt Resistors and don't know what it is. Now here are a brief introduction.

Busbar shunt resistors: Shunts are weld on busbars, and shunts can sense the temperature coefficient of resistance ±50ppm/k, ≥800A current. And the voltage drop between the end of busbar and resistor can be measured. And the shape of busbars can be customized. 

This time I want to take the shunt resistors I got for example:
    Shunts can be weld to busbars to reduce the quantity of components;
    Compared with resistors fixed by screws, the heat drops;
    When designing ultra low resistance, it can be used for testing high sensing current;
    Use Kelvin connections to realize high precision sensing;
    Proper busbars can be designed according to applications.

Where can be applied:
    Sensing current and monitor for cars, industrial devices, energy;
    Home and industrial battery management;
    Inverter current control.

First Time to Experience Deep Cleansing Mask

Yesterday my tutor I knew last year sent me a new personal care, as a lazy person I did not care much about it. But I tried it - KATAVIER Deep Cleansing Mask, that's AMAZING! I want to record and share here.

Firstly let us view the product features:

  • Masks use coconuts to make, safe and non-toxic, looking like jelly, can put it on the face for whole night;
  • Effectively to absorb blackhead, acne, dirt, acarid, cosmetic Residue even the first time use;
  • Deep cleansing mask can open pores quickly, encroach skin?in-depth, transport nutrition and adjust oil/hydro-balancing;
  • Completely easy to use mask that comes with basic instructions, you can put it to use right out of the box;
  • Before you use the mask, take a little on the inside of the wrist, or behind the ears, half an hour after the adverse reactions. On the contrary, over 10-15 minutes, you can apply the mask.
That attracted me totally as they are natural coconut made. I don't like chemical things which to some degree is a little unsafe to me as I am allergic actually. 

Secondly I used it according to the way my tutor told me: 
Step 1: After wash your face, get the mask out of bag (No need wash your face, as our mask is cleansing mask;
Step 2: Take top and bottom layers, put the flexible and semi-transparent peptides mask on your faces;
Step 3: Mask till the mask is totally dry, it usually takes 25-60 minutes, depending on the absorption of people's skins;
Step 4: Put the mask into the water for 10 seconds, you will find the dirt on the mask.
